Red Rock Canyon – The one thing we can say in Vegas is that we’ve got one heck of a back yard. Off of the 215 Beltway and Charleston Blvd., our top favorite local weekend destination is 25 minutes from the Resort Corridor and just 15 minutes from Summerlin. When you get there, you’ll find that it’s filled with all sorts of fellow nature lovers, from hikers and rock climbers to bicyclists on road and mountain bikes. Spring Mountains Visitor’s Gateway – Just off the 95 North, Kyle Canyon Road now leads visitors to a newly opened visitor’s center that gives locals and tourists alike an idea of what kinds of activities are available to them year-round inside the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest and the Spring Mountains highest peak, Mount Charleston. Spring Mountain Ranch State Park – Nestled in the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation area, the 520 acre park has trees more than 400 years old. The ranch has a unique history filled with famous residents that developed the area into a combination of luxurious retreat and working ranch. Bonnie Springs Ranch - Bonnie Springs Ranch has a replica ghost town and all the old west attractions you might want. Valley of Fire State Park – Hunt 3,000 year old Native American petroglyphs, experience petrified wood and marvel at red sandstone formations that date back over 150 million years. Dogs are welcome, but they must be kept on a leash not longer than six feet in length. Don’t forget to wear comfortable walking or athletic shoes (hiking boots or trail shoes are recommended), and pack plenty of water and snacks. Lake Mead National Recreation Area – With great hiking, boating, fishing, picnicking and sightseeing, it’s a popular destination for everyone. Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs – Located in the northwest corner of the Valley with over 2,000 acres to explore, walk, hike, ride and photograph, Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs includes Tule Springs Ranch, Tule Springs Archaeological Site and Tule Springs Wash. Break out your fishin’ pole (and your Nevada State fishing license) because Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs also boasts four stocked fishing ponds. Dogs are welcome, but they have to stay on a leash. If you’ve got a horse, it’s time to saddle up as you can ride through the park on designated trails. Lorenzi Park – Located in northwest Las Vegas, Lorenzi Park and its pond are accessible for fishing. The 3-acre pond features rainbow trout and channel catfish (which are stocked seasonally); it also has a small number of largemouth bass and panfish. Limit 3 fish of any species of fish in combination. No live fish bait allowed. While there, you can also feed the ducks or just go for a stroll around the 59 acre park. The Springs Preserve & Nevada State Museum – Designed to be Las Vegas’ answer to Central Park, The Springs Preserve features Botanical Gardens and hiking trails that are free for locals to stroll from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Sustainability-focused museum exhibits are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Locals with Nevada ID enjoy discounted tickets to the museums and yearly memberships. Ethel M’s Chocolate Factory and Botanical Cactus Garden – While Ethel M’s is famous for their chocolate, they also have one of the world’s largest cactus collections with over 300 species of plants covering four acres. During the holidays, seeing the cacti, succulents and other drought-resistant trees and plants decorated in colored lights is on a local’s must-see list. Bootleg Canyon Mountain Bike Trail – If you’ve got a mountain bike and you are looking for adventure, there are 30 miles of mountain bike trails for all skill levels. Desert National Wildlife Refuge – The largest refuge outside of Alaska is found in Clark County. With a four-wheel-drive vehicle almost mandatory for this adventure, you can explore the 1.6 million acres featuring Corn Creek, Alamo Road, Mormon Well Road, and Gass Peak Road to see Desert Bighorn Sheep and an amazing variety of other desert fauna and flora. McCarran Airport Runway Vista – McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas is the ninth busiest airport in the nation. Across the road from the intersection of Sunset Road and Escondido Street, just west of Eastern Avenue, is a small parking lot that you can bring lawn chairs and watch the planes take off and land. If you really want to see a show, go on Thursday evenings, it’s the busiest night of the week for arrivals and you can see planes lined up across the sky waiting to land. While you’re there, if you want to listen to the conversations between the aircraft pilots and the control tower, you can tune your radio to 101.5 FM. North Las Vegas Airport Viewing Deck – A sister airport to McCarran, the North Las Vegas Airport has a viewing deck that will allow you to watch smaller planes take off and land. Henderson Executive Airport – At the Henderson Executive Airport, they’ve taken it up a notch. The High Roller at The Linq – At the heart of the Resort Corridor is the world’s tallest observation wheel, The High Roller, standing at 550 feet tall. With individual “pods” or cabins that hold up to 40 visitors each, it takes a full 30 minutes to complete a single rotation. Daytime tickets start at $26.95 and increase to $36.95 at night. The Neon Museum – A popular favorite is the Neon Museum and its’ guided tour of the Neon Boneyard. Nevada residents get a discount with valid Nevada ID. The Neon Museum strongly recommends that you wear comfortable close-toed walking shoes and reminds prospective visitors that there is broken glass and rusted metal in the area. The warnings aside, the night tour is spectacular and is a must-see. Local adult tour prices are $12 for a daytime tour and $22 for nighttime tours. Pinball Hall of Fame –An attempt to house and display the world’s largest pinball collection, the Las Vegas Pinball Collectors Club has made their collection open to the public. Located on the east side of town not far from UNLV, it’s 10,000 square feet dedicated to pinball and vintage arcade games. It is a non-profit, so if you love what they’ve done, consider donating to the ongoing project. All excess revenue they create is donated to non-denominational charities. National Atomic Testing Museum - With more than 12,000 unique artifacts, the National Atomic Testing Museum is an educational experience about the development and testing of the nuclear bomb. Nevada Southern Railway Museum – For a unique afternoon outing, especially for those who love trains, the Nevada Southern Railway Museum is a treat for the entire family. While at the museum, you can take a 35 minute train ride on the Boulder Branch Line from Boulder City to Railroad Pass and back again in your choice of an open air car or a climate controlled Pullman coach. Bountiful Baskets is a way to use collective purchasing to get high quality food at prices usually reserved for grocery stores and restaurants. Save money while you work together cooperatively within your community.

Bountiful Baskets Food Co-op is constantly growing to reach new areas through a large network of volunteers. We run at least every two weeks at each site. We are completely volunteer-run and make no profit. We have the following distribution sites and look forward to adding other distribution sites as volunteers are trained and ready to open them! Please see our home page for a complete listing of current sites. Cities marked with an * have 100% Organic sites available.
This is a grass roots, all volunteer, no contracts, no catch co-operative. Without volunteers this co-op wouldn't happen, so you will need to help as you are able. There are many opportunities to participate!
